It’s Comfort Food Time…

As the fall season arrives and with it cooler temperatures, I start to crave warm “comfort foods”. My summer Beet Smoothie inspired the Breakfast Berry Crumble that can be enjoyed for breakfast or dessert.

For lunch the Collard Wraps provide a filling take on the classic wrap. The Spread can also be enjoyed on celery or with your favorite cracker. Although perhaps not the most visually appetizing meal, I couldn’t stop my husband from 2nd helpings of the Hearty Garden Casserole.

Communication with Your Angel Team Series – Article 1

Trusting Your Intuition on Your Journey

Article 1: Guardian Angels

Written by Cindy Smith AEP™

When it comes to trusting in your intuition, some people might ask why do I choose to begin these articles with talking about Guardian Angels? What does that have to do with my intuition? When I refer to trusting in my intuition and listening to my guidance I am referring to following the guidance of my Angel Team and myself.

“Who are my Guardian Angels?”

Yes, Guardian Angels are a gift from Creator for everyone on earth at birth; our own personal connection to Divine Energy. The word ‘Angel’ means messenger, therefore, regardless of our belief system or faith we are all connected to Higher Power. I refer to my intuition as my Angel Team, which includes my guardian angels and whichever Archangel vibration I have with me at that moment in time. They are always with you and a part of you. Guardian Angel energy has never been in life form; they are pure white light with no ego only Divine vibration. Your Guardian Angels never leave you. Once we receive the gift of a Guardian Angel they will always be with you regardless of your own belief system. We are never punished by our angels and they support us thru all good and trying times without any judgement. However, the biggest lesson for us to remember is to ASK for assistance or guidance from our Angel Team. We all have free will and our Angels are unable to intercede unless asked; except during a near death life experience and it is not our time to cross to the white light.

“How does intuition work with my Guardian Angels?”

When I trust in my intuition and listen to my guidance I am trusting in my Angel Team and myself. My Divine connection for self, my understanding of knowing without being taught, my gut feelings ring true, my thoughts are clear without question, and I see with purpose. This is what I believe is trusting in our Intuition.

“How can I listen to my Angels?”

You always have been, it is recognising how they communicate with you through all of our senses—thoughts or hearing, seeing, feeling and knowing. Trust me when I say, it does take some practice to discern between your ego and your Angel Team by asking and then being patient for the answers to be shown without the inner self-doubt. Once you begin find the difference it can make a difference on your healing journey.

Look forward to sharing about Archangel Vibration in the next Article.

The Word and the Womb

How much should you tell other people about what is really important to you? Should you broadcast your dreams to everyone in hopes that others will honor your intentions and support you? Or would you be wiser to keep your visions to yourself and avoid debilitating criticism?

You have probably had the experience of sharing a fresh insight, experience, or project with someone, only to be met with an icy, insensitive response. “I tried that and it didn’t work.” “You will put yourself at risk.” “That would cost too much to produce and nobody would buy it.” Nothing is more daunting than someone throwing cold water on your hot dreams. Then you walk away from the conversation feeling deflated and defeated.

I am amazed at how obtuse people can be when offered an opportunity to support someone. I visited a friend in the hospital who had had a very minor surgery. A relative in the room said, “I know someone who died of what you have.” One of my coaching clients told her husband she wanted to take a yoga class. He laughed and told her she was on her way to Jonestown. When I self-published my first book using my mother’s life savings, the publisher’s agent told me, “They say you don’t make any money until your third book.” (The book went on to be a bestseller.)

Jesus was a master metaphysician who understood the power of thoughts and words. He instructed, “Cast not pearls before swine,” meaning to not offer sensitive, lofty ideas to people who will not understand, and gobble them up. After he performed a certain healing, he told the recipient, “Tell no man.” Jesus understood that if that man broadcast his experience publicly before the healing was solidified, negative observers would cast doubts and skepticism upon him so as to weaken or undo the healing. Better to wait until the healing was gelled in his subconscious; then the opinions of others could not unstitch his advancement.

A yogi told me, “When you plant a seedling in a field where cows are grazing, set a fence around the little plant to protect it from cows eating or trampling it. Later, when the seedling has grown large and sturdy, you can remove the fence, and the cows will have a magnificent tree they can rub up against and rest under its shade.”

Does the injunction to safeguard sensitive projects mean we should be neurotically secretive about what is important to us? No, it just means we should be discerning when choosing the people we share our visions with. If you know that someone loves and supports you, that would be a good person to include in your vision. Some people attend mastermind groups in which they meet weekly with a few positive friends to share exciting ideas and get behind each other for success. Cultivate and fertilize the soil in which you plant your valued seeds.

Let’s say you share a sensitive project at an early stage and someone throws a dagger of negation at it. Does that mean the project has been killed? Not at all. You can use the experience to make your project stronger. Use the criticism as motivation to go within and affirm the value, power, and potential of your project. In homeopathy and immunization, patients take small doses of viruses that would kill them in larger doses. The body then develops antibodies that prevent the disease from overcoming them should it return. “What does not kill me makes me stronger.”

No person, no matter how negative or virulent they are, has the power to thwart your project or remove your good. That power belongs only to you. If someone judges or attacks you, consider them an angel reflecting to you your own beliefs, doubts, or fears so you can recognize and heal them. If you get upset or cave in when someone criticizes you, you must agree with that person. If you didn’t, the criticism would not disturb you. Your issue is not with the other person. It is with yourself. Find the hidden self-doubt or judgment, confront it, hold it up to the light, and heal it with a greater truth. Because light is more powerful than darkness, you must succeed.

As we enter the holiday season, you may have some juicy opportunities to discern who to share your sensitive truth with, and how to deal with people who judge or criticize you. Don’t shy away from these opportunities. Use each one to practice remembering your beauty, power, and worth, and that of your valued projects.

Motivational master Jim Rohn said, “If you really want something, you will find a way. If you don’t, you will find an excuse.” Don’t use fear or others’ negative opinions as an excuse to not move ahead. Don’t let people into your visions if they don’t match your intention. Love and support your visions like a pregnant woman would diligently protect and care for the soul in her womb. Then your progeny will grow into powerful, mature, successful adults.

Loving Your Ego

Loving Your Ego

Learning to Love your Ego is a long process.  The first step is identifying it and appreciating that it is an integral part of you.  We all have little voices in our heads – you aren’t crazy!  When you hear the voices, start trying to define them and you are well on your way to differentiating between your Ego, Spirit Guides and Angels.

Remember when you were small, and your parent could make you feel even smaller by saying they were disappointed in you, that you weren’t living up to your potential?  Ego has a little recording studio and will often use your parents’ voices to remind you that you are not all you think you are.  But that doesn’t make it true.  That doesn’t make it valid.  You have to realize that as you have grown, every step you have taken is one toward being your better self, living your life’s purpose and doing the very best you can with what you have.  When you allow that self-talk come in and mess up what you are now doing, you are giving your Ego too much power.

Our Ego, the “disapproving parent”, often responds based on fear, or feelings of lack of control of a situation.  Ego is the voice that says you look chubby in that dress, or that you shouldn’t try something for fear of failure or potential embarrassment.  When you hear your ego, try to remember that it is not always right.  You are much too hard on yourself and the measures it takes to keep you ‘safe’ are often contrary to what you really want or need to do.

Ego also has a hair trigger in regard to those things you feel would potentially hurt you.  It will cause rampant thoughts and work you into quite a frenzy over the littlest things.

We all have a rational mind, but usually don’t use it in regard to these little things, and then find ourselves worrying and stressed over things that really don’t deserve our attention.  Learning to identify where you personally fly off the handle, or move to emotion too quickly, can help you to better live in grace.

Taking things very personally is sign that your Ego is taking over too much.  Nothing happens to you, it happens around you, and how you deal with it, is very much your choice.  When someone pushes your buttons, take a moment to reflect why you are responding in the manner you are.  Are they reflecting something back to you that you and your Ego don’t admire about yourself?  Can you step back and realize that what they have said is coming from their reality and their perception, and really not about YOU at all?  Being able to step out of Ego is one of the most important things you need to learn in order to feel happy.

We also have our own personal cheerleading squad, a.k.a your Spirit Guides & Angels.  You will find yours conveniently located in your subconscious supporting you, using your own intuition and connecting you to your higher self.

When you are faced with a brilliant idea or perhaps a challenge, and Ego steps up to say “don’t do it!” you have the ability to calm your mind, lovingly say “Ego, please step aside while I sort this out”.  Ego will, with practice, step aside so you can have a calm, loving and positive conversation with your cheerleading squad.

So after a day of learning to connect with your higher self, you snuggle into your bed and then it happens, “Monkey Brain” has kicked in and un-snuggling has commenced…  You lay there, sorting out the day’s events, yesterday’s events and the day before that, generating chaos and creating anxiety for the day to come.  This, again, is your Ego in full motion.

It’s all good though!  It truly believes it’s keeping you safe.  Seriously.  Remedy:  simply say “Thank you Ego, I appreciate all you do for me and now please go away”.  Now you can just relax your mind and body and receive restful messages from the Angels and Guides that you are indeed in control, good things are coming your way, and you can solve any issue that has been set before you.  This will take some practice, the Ego doesn’t come with an on/off switch, but trust me you can build one.

Ego also lets us take credit for those things we should be grateful for.  Starting to identify when we are coming from Ego instead of coming from a place of grace is also good practice for learning to sort out our thoughts.

When someone says “Job well done”, and you automatically say something back like “it wasn’t a big deal, anyone could have done it”, you have now started to let your Ego define our self-worth.  This is not a good thing.  If indeed it wasn’t a big deal, and anyone could have done it, then why did you?  Step into grace and thank people instead.  Resist the need to provide a compliment back as well unless you earnestly mean it.  You have to learn to receive gratitude and say thank you in a graceful way or you are letting Ego take over.

Again, learning to Love your Ego can be a long process but now you have some new tools in your evolutionary accessory kit. The first step is identifying it and appreciating that it is an integral part of you.  It has helped to shape you thus far.  Love it even though it sometimes undermines your confidence, and step up and embrace the other voices in your head that give you love, healing and understanding.  You have everything you need already within you to assist you on your path of living joyfully and with purpose.  Love your Ego!  It has a purpose, it has a place, and it loves you back!

So, stand in your personal power, pull the strength from your Solar Plexus Chakra, and instead ask the Angels and Guides to show you how it will work, how it can work, and how you can be successful.

6 Key Reasons to Exhibit at a Trade Show

6 Key Reasons to Exhibit at a Trade Show

If you an entrepreneur, you need to know that promoting your business is a steady job. You need to get in all marketing activities to project your business and position it before your target audience. Though there are many marketing activities; trade show marketing has its unique place in the realm of business promotion.

It can be tempting to want to overlook this important area if you are currently enjoying the influx of new customers to your business through advertising or other means. But sometimes, getting more customers is not the end of your marketing effort. What type and class of clients are you attracting?

Every business regardless of size needs to invest resources in trade show marketing to build their brand. And Businesses that understand the importance of this resourceful medium will not miss out on the opportunity to attend trade exhibitions. Study on trade shows attests to the fact that ROI from trade shows far exceeds income from any other form of outbound marketing. Therefore, here are 6 great reasons to help you decide on investing in live event marketing.

  1. Fresh faces; meet and connect with prospective customers

Every customer feels secure and happy when dealing with a seller face to face. I think most marketers feel that way. It can be frustrating when you try to follow up on a lead only to end up with unanswered calls and with an email message not replied. But it is not the case when you attend a live marketing event where you have your customers, new prospects walking up to you and make inquiries and engage with you one-on-one in discussing business.

Evidently, statistics show that more than 75% of prospects at a trade shows are not people you have personally contacted, but the show helps to bring them to you. According to Exhibit Surveys, among the traffic that visits an exhibitor’s stand during an exhibition, not more than 12% are called by the exhibitors, others are new prospected who are there because they saw an opportunity to meet new exhibitors and have their needs discussed.

  1. Getting close to your customers and competitors and learn what works

Trade show marketing brings both services seekers and providers together. It presents an opportunity for the two most influential people in commerce to meet in an atmosphere where the purpose for gathering is to discuss business. You are not cold calling or bumping into anyone whose objective is at variance with yours. People who will walk into your stand are those needing what you offer. Likewise, very close to you are your competitors that you can walk up to them to ask questions and get answers. This opportunity is rare to come by without attending the exhibition.

While prospective clients may be seeing you for the first time, you have the opportunity to get close to them and learn about their needs and preferences. Some customers will even educate you on what to change or adjust in your offering to meet a market need and reposition you for success.

Competition is not war and meeting your competitor gives you the opportunity to solve a business puzzle or get new insights about how to tweak certain aspects of your business for optimum result. Again, you can use the opportunity to increase your business contact database and for starting a possible business alliance that benefits both of you.

  1. Develop and strengthen your brand

Learning what works is an opportunity to develop your business offering and enhance your brand positioning. Your manner of attending to prospects and using the opportunity to explain the uniqueness of your brand compared to competition gives the customer food for thought, build your reputation and gives the prospect the confidence to trust you and have you in mind as the first option among equals in your industry.

Imagine offering the best spa services and attending a trade show with a popular manufacturer of wellness products in attendance and you happen to have your stand next to them. You have great sales pitch and compelling offer, and you have prospects coming into your stand in droves to have a feel of you. The first thing is status elevation; your company will move from a startup to being part of a niche in the wellness industry.

It also creates a psychological image as prospects will see you as a valuable member of the industry, equating you with the blue-chip company. It is not what some advertising in electronic or print media will ever give to you on a platter of gold like this. There and then, if you have a business proposition for the wellness company, you will have them listening and be treated with respect.

  1. Close deals with new customers with ease at the live event

Using our earlier example, you are the CEO of your XYZ SPA services with a strong proposition for a spa getaway for busy business executives. You have prospects from different organizations and they are decision makers walking into your stand for inquiries. Now face to face with the CEO of prospects’ companies. These are people you would be queuing to meet if you happen to approach them in their offices. It’s not your marketing executive meeting them, and you aren’t meeting the prospects human resource managers either. When two people who have the final say on a business transaction meet, the negotiating environment becomes more relaxed as you know the other person is not fooling around.

Trade show marketing gives you more opportunities of meeting decision-makers coming into your stand in droves. You have a chance for more contacts to open up more sale proposals than you can ever have if you were to market them through other marketing channels.

  1. Competitive edge

There is no small or inconsequential trade exhibition. Attending live marketing events tell prospective clients you are not a pushover in your industry. It also sends a powerful signal to the competition you are a valuable member of the industry. Authority in your industry stems from your participation and contribution in industry matters.

Trade show marketing gives you the needed confidence because you know major industry players and your marketing and business profile will attest to the fact that you have paid your dues in the sector, therefore, establishing your competitive edge standing shoulder high among your competition.

  1. More bang for your buck

A qualified audience is a prospect likely to buy your product. No guess work! Prospect A would need to treat their best performing staff to a week spa in a getaway location every month ending as an employee incentive package. You know this because you already discussed this at the exhibition and you are following up on the prospect to close deals and make money. Now back in your office, you spend less time looking for new prospects, in fact, you are preparing for another trade show coming up midyear to make an even grander appearance.

As a parting talk on this discussion, I hope you now see more reasons to attend trade show marketing for your business. Attending a live sales event needn’t be a problem if you work with the right people who will offer help on how you can benefit more from your participation. If you are in doubt what could be in it for you, we’re happy to help you get started and redefine your business marketing for more profit, today.

Is Print Media Dead?

Is print dead? This is a question that has been buzzing around the marketing world since the rapid surge of the Internet and social media. While many businesses have completely migrated their advertising efforts to the web because of its cost effectiveness, exposure potential and convenience, print still maintains its stance as a powerful and necessary component of an ad campaign. Let’s take a closer look at print media and some advantages it has over its digital counterparts.

Tangibility – A print piece is a physical thing. Magazines and newspapers can stay in houses or offices for months or years, while Internet ads can disappear into cyber space instantaneously.

Credibility – There is something about print that gives a sense of legitimacy. The saturation of popups and banner ads on the web can be overwhelming and the fear of spam and viruses is enough make people weary of clicking. There is no imminent danger in a print ad.

Branding – Print ads are excellent for solidifying your brand identity. Your ads should have a consistent aesthetic in terms of fonts, colors and types of images to establish brand recognition.

Target Marketing – Placing ads in publications such as specialty magazines can effectively reach niche audiences that may be more difficult to target online.

More Engaging – Consumers are more engaged when reading printed material, unlike websites, which are often skimmed in as little as a 15 second visit. A study shows that people read digital screen text 20% – 30% slower than printed paper. (Alshaali & Varshney, 2005)

Less Print Ads – With more and more businesses relying solely on the Internet for their advertising needs, the decline of print publication can actually be used as a marketing advantage. The publications are less crowded, allowing more room for your ad to shine, and possibly even cheaper prices for that ad space.

QR Codes – Placing QR codes on printed pieces is an excellent way to bridge the gap between print and web. When scanned with a smartphone, the QR code will take you to a homepage or a special offer page that lives on the web.

The best way to market your business is to utilize as many channels as possible to reach every corner of your target demographic; this should not exclude print. Although it is likely that most emphasis, in terms of advertising, will be executed online, there still exist those who revel in the glory of the printed page and it’s important to reach them. Finding the right balance between various media will ensure a steady revenue flow, an increase in sales and new customers.

An Exhibitor’s Show Kit List – do you have one?

Are you professional Exhibitor or maybe new to the trade show industry?

Over the years, I’ve participated in several trade show events and if there’s one thing every Exhibitor should have, it’s a container filled with items that you should always take with you to all your events.

When it comes to participating at events, I’ve learned through trial and error all sorts of things to help me to create a successful experience. Trade shows can be stressful if you’re not prepared. I remember my first few ending with me looking like I’d been through the ringer. It doesn’t have to be that way.

As much as it pains me to say it, it pays to be somewhat organized. Now I’m a fly by the seat of your pants kind of girl so organizing is not really my fun thing to do. “It’ll all work out in the end” is something I say frequently. Sure, I did well at the shows but I was frazzled at the end of those three days. Seriously frazzled.

One of my very first lessons to learn and I am happy to share with you, just in case you’ve yet to experience a trade show, is you absolutely have to have a container filled with stuff to get you and your booth up and running and stay running for 3 days. I’ve created a list for you to have a look at and download if you like.

To begin getting your Trade Show Kit together, start creating a stack of the following items:

  • Scotch tape
  • Duct tape: get a little colourful with this. There’s tons of cool duct tape patterns, colours and flavours to choose from and you’re not wrapping a pipe. Find something that will at least look nice in your booth if you have to go public with it.
  • Scissors
  • Paperclips
  • Stapler
  • Package of Sharpies
  • Highlighter
  • Printer Paper - not too much.  Enough for a sign or two if you forget yours at home.
  • Note pad
  • Pens – not just one. I’ve gone through tons of pens at shows for my draw box. Unless you attach them to your table or draw box, they just walk away…
  • Ruler
  • Extension cord – I usually bring about a 20ft cord so it’s not stretched out across the floor of my booth creating a tripping hazard.
  • Power bar – very handy if you need more than one cord or have lighting in your booth.
  • Zip strips – these work great if you’re out of S hooks for hanging your banner.
  • Cutters for zip strips – this is a must if you’re using zip strips. Scissors just don’t cut it.
  • S hooks
  • All in one tool or a couple of screw drivers and a pair of pliers.
  • Your choice of head ache remedy, allergy remedy and cold meds. There’s nothing worse when you’re not feeling well at a show and you can’t leave.
  • Business cards
  • Calculator
  • Nail clippers and nail file – seriously. It’s just not attractive to be picking at your fingers or munching on a hang nail.
  • Band-Aids
  • And last but not least: Cash box. Seriously. It’s easy to forget when you’re in a hurry.

Now that you have all your items collected, pop over the store and pick up a sturdy plastic box to put it all in. You could go with cardboard but if you plan on doing more than one show, it won’t last.

Once you have everything in your plastic container, get out one of your sharpies and mark it as your show kit. Make sure everyone in the household knows that this box is not to be raided - not even by you. As tempting as it is, your show will run much for smoothly if everything is where it should be when you need it.

One last thing, it wouldn’t hurt to leave room for a pair of good foot wear. Your feet will love you for it.

And don’t forget to fill your cash box with a float!

I am in so much gratitude for the opportunity to work in such a positive, uplifting environment. This is the most successful show I have ever been a part of, and I am so happy to have been a part of it all.

Please know that you are appreciated by myself and others, beyond words…

Love,
